Chiropractic is a drug-free health care profession that optimizes the function of the brain and the nervous system.  A chiropractor will assess a patient’s spine and nervous system for interferences in the form of subluxations. Subluxations occur when a vertebra has lost it’s optimal position and places stress on surrounding nerves and muscles. This stress limits communication between the brain and the body and can result in disease and pain. Subluxations occur in the presence of physical, mental, emotional or chemical stressors.  A chiropractor offers a precise contact that corrects the subluxation and brings the body into better balance and allows for improved function.
Yes. Doctors of Chiropractic (DC’s) specialize in the care of the nervous system through the correction of subluxations. Care provided is done without drugs or surgery.

Chiropractors are not medical doctors, but go through a similar education process to become licensed chiropractor. The typical applicant for chiropractic college has already acquired nearly four years of pre-medical undergraduate college education, that includes: biology, chemistry, physics, psychology and related lab work. The rigorous chiropractic curriculum includes 2 years of basic sciences and 2 years of chiropractic technique and training, clinical skills, diagnostic imaging, case management and physiotherapy. Licensed chiropractors are nationally board certified and maintain licensing credentials through continuing education.

Chiropractors are best known for their expertise in caring for patients with back pain, neck pain, and headaches. We also treat sports injuries and other disorders involving muscles, ligaments and joints. But the benefits of chiropractic care go beyond pain and extend into general health.  Once the body’s core structure is balanced overall function and health improves.  Many patients under chiropractic care can see improvements with hypertension, diabetes, digestion issues, mood disorders and sleep patterns.

Chiropractic care does not treat any disease, illness or disorder.

Once subluxations are removed, the brain and body can have improved communication that extends to every muscle and organ. This allows the body to heal itself and is why improvements in other health conditions are seen.

As B.J. Palmer stated: “Chiropractic is the science, philosophy, and art that utilizes the inherent recuperative power of the body to heal itself without the use of drugs or surgery”. A chiropractic adjustment is about optimizing the function of the nervous system by correcting subluxations in the spine.

At Northern Lights Chiropractic we apply a specific, gentle and controlled force to subluxations, based on clinical findings. Our adjustments may include some light contacts, the use of a drop piece table, instrument adjusting and some osseous/manual adjusting.  This allows greater ease in the nervous system and an improved expression of health. Many times patients will feel more relaxed yet energized after an adjustment.

Yes! Chiropractic care is widely recognized as one of the safest drug-free, non-invasive treatment of most back and neck problems. Spinal adjustments are extremely safe when performed by a licensed chiropractor. Chiropractic care is safe for patients of all ages.
Each patient is unique and their care is customized to meet their specific condition, needs and comfort level.
Absolutely! Many pregnant women find that chiropractic adjustments improve the pregnancy experience and make labor and delivery easier. Adjustments are adapted to accommodate the stage of pregnancy. The pregnancy mom can comfortably lie face down with the use of pregnancy pillows that cradle her and her growing baby.
Please don’t self adjust! Many people like to “crack their neck” thinking they are adjusting themselves.  What happens is that there is a locked joint in the neck or back. Directly above and below that locked joint are joints that are hypermobile.  “Cracking” your own neck usually results in affecting the hypermobile segment in a nonspecific way. This is not advantageous. Chiropractors are trained to adjust in a very specific location and direction. As a result, it is virtually impossible to adjust oneself correctly, safely, and accurately.
Each patient has an individualized care plan based on his or her health and goals.  Those that are looking to treat a chronic health issue may require frequent visits in order to develop long-term improvements in their nervous system.  Other patients do not have any acute or chronic pain but value a maintenance care plan that ensures their nervous system is functioning at its highest level for optimal performance. Patients who receive regular care often have stronger immune systems and are more resilient when dealing with stress.
During our first visit together, you will complete a health intake form so we can get to know you.  Any insurance information you have will be collected at this time as well.

We will then chat with you and proceed with any necessary exam procedures.  As the patient you do not remove any clothing except for shoes or a bulky sweater. Many times we are able to perform an adjustment on that first visit.  We do not take x-rays in the office.  If x-rays are deemed appropriate, we can have them easily taken at Munson Medical Center.

We accept Blue Cross Blue Shield, Priority Health, Aetna, United Healthcare and Medicare.
Co-pays and payments towards deductibles are due at the time of service.
If you are a veteran, please contact the Veterans Affairs for potential chiropractic benefits. We would be happy to serve you.
For our patients with a health savings account or who pay out of pocket, our office visits are $40. New patient exams are required for starting care and are $90. Office charges may change, so please call our office for the current price schedule.
Yes, yes and yes! Babies and children can benefit greatly from chiropractic care. For babies, birth can be a tough way to break into the world! Many times the first subluxations occur during the birth process.

Chiropractic care help with:

  • Colic
  • Earaches
  • Constipation
  • Difficulties with latching during breastfeeding

Having your baby checked for subluxations shortly after birth provides them with a nervous system free of interference. This can eliminate many discomforts for Baby and makes for happier Moms and Dads.

Children grow and develop at such a rapid pace. Bumps, bruises and falls can easily cause dysfunction of their Central Nervous System. Simple corrections made early prevent health problems down the road. Adjustments for babies and children are very gentle to accommodate their growing spines. And they tend to respond quite quickly to chiropractic care.

Chiropractic Assists Children By:

  • Strengthening the Immune System for fewer colds, ear infections and allergies
  • Improving asthma
  • Stimulating the brain
  • Correcting neurological imbalances associated with Autism Spectrum Disorder and ADHD.
  • Addressing development delays at an early stage for optimal treatment
